This was the perfect home base for how we like to travel. Being right on Kaʻanapali Beach meant we could do morning walks, sunset resets, and quick “we have an hour, let’s go for a walk” moments without overplanning. We’d absolutely consider staying again for the location alone. During our trip in February, we could hear the whales singing when we'd dip our heads under the water at the beach in front of the hotel. It was amazing being able to see whales from our balcony. Consider paying extra for a better room location during whale watching season (and bring your binoculars). We featured it in our YouTube video, search for “Replicate the Magic” on YouTube to find it.

One of the most magnificent resorts I have ever visited. Great staff, wonderful rooms, super friendly staff. Kennedy welcomed us with a wonderful vibe, gave us some good pointers and a complete rundown of all our included accommodations. Breakfast plan was included and was so valuable, many of the servers really helped us to maximize our budgeted credits and were more than happy to go the extra mile to make sure both of our vegetarian diets were take care of. The beach activity boys were awesome and they always had something witty and positive to say. The GM was super helpful and made sure his entire team was taking great care of us from the very first day. Our room was beautiful and incredibly well maintained, there must have been a very recent renovation. There are many opportunities to support and donate to the community as it is still recovering from the 2023 fires, so definitely try and make an effort to help the community remain supported by your visit in some way. The beach was our favorite place to hang out even when the surf got a bit big, be careful if you are not an expert in the water when the surf is up otherwise it was quite easy to get in and out (if you are there during December thru March putting your head underwater is a wonderful way to hear all the whales in the waters in front of the resort), Food on site was terrific and with additional resort credits it made it more affordable, definitely recommend a package from Costco travel or something comparable, otherwise there location is great for a brief walk of (free) trolley ride to neighboring resorts and restaurants (check out MuuMuu Maui if you want great pizza). Almost all drinks can be made as mocktails but the Spirit of Aloha had us hooked from the beginning. Pools were also very well maintained and servers made them easy to sit at the entire day, did not try the cabanas but they seemed very cool! Overall will definitely try and make it back here in the future for a longer visit.

My husband and I stayed in an oceanfront beach bungalow in February 2021, and I booked a beach bungalow through Costco for February 2026. At check in, I was able to pay for an upgrade to an oceanfront beach bungalow (I am not sure if this was an option with my Costco package when I booked). I am so happy we upgraded, because the room was wonderful with an incredible view. You are just steps from the beach. Unfortunately for us, we visited during a storm that was just lingering (essentially our entire stay). Also during our stay, there was an almost 24 hour power outage as a result of the storm. The power company had a Public Safety Power Outage because of high wind and low humidity which affected the area of west Maui and all of Kaanapali Beach. Luckily, the Royal Lahaina has a generator which provided electricity to their restaurants and to charging banks in the lobby so guest could charge their phones and devices. We were impressed with how the staff came together. We were told that other hotels did not have generators for food service, and as a result, we had reservations elsewhere that were cancelled. We were able to get a reservation at Lahaina Moon at the Royal Lahaina, and we saw first hand how staff came together during the power outage performing jobs they probably don't normally perform---from the costume manager of their luau who was clearing tables and serving food, the hotel GM who served me coffee and made my bagel at The Royal Scoop (thank goodness they had coffee!!!), Charles, the Food and Beverage manager who was doing whatever needed to be done and did it with a smile and great hospitality, to our server, Cara, who was so sweet, kind and so efficient during an incredibly busy time. Watching the staff come together seamlessly under pressure and with grace, all while providing exceptional service and making sure guests were happy, really was impressive.

Best place for a relaxing vacation. As a Kama’aina, I truly appreciate the special rates for us locals to experience this beautiful resort. Plus waived resort fee and parking fee! I am so delighted I made the right choice for my birthday trip. First, the gentleman working the front desk on the night of 03/04 was pleasant. He was super kind, just what we needed after a long day and drive to/from Haleakala Summit. We were so thankful to him for going above and beyond because his kindness was truly the highlight of our stay. Next, I would also like to mention the text feature from the resort before and during check in ensuring everything’s going well or if there is anything needed. Our oceanfront Bungalow was spacious, clean and newly renovated. I was a little hesitant about the Bungalows at first because of an older review, but from the moment we walked in it completely exceeded our expectations. The towels were clean and beddings were comfortable, both did smell pleasant like fresh laundry. The pools and beach were amazing and view was breathtaking. My only suggestion would be adding a complimentary bottled water. Lastly, the shower had low pressure but I understand that is set to conserve water. I would also like to mention that Royal Lahaina Resort and Bungalows location is close to our new favorite cinnamon roll place, Papi’s Ohana. Overall, I highly recommend this resort and Bungalows to those who want to experience the true meaning of Aloha! My husband and I would stay here again for our next Maui visit. Mahalo!

The RLRB was a fantastic stay and very relaxing for the 4 days we were in the area. It was one of cheaper places to stay but that wasn’t at the cost of amenities offered. The beach was by far one of our favorites that we visited, and the hotel had sunscreen, towels & umbrellas for us to use why we were relaxing in the sand. The hotel was cute and looked recently updated, it was quaint and not too over the top, perfectly casual! The room was small but for 4 days it was comfortable, we don’t need much, if we stayed longer I would imagine a larger room would be nice. The only amenities we missed in our actual room was a better selection of tea/coffee and any bottled water, but we just used the ice machine on the floor and tap. The west side of the island is more luxurious than the south side and this felt like causal luxury without the high price tag!

We had an amazing stay at Royal Lahaina Resort & Bungalows. The location is unbeatable—right on a beautiful beach with incredible ocean views and stunning sunsets. The property is relaxing, well-maintained, and truly gives you that authentic Maui feel. What made the experience even better was the staff. Everyone we encountered was friendly, welcoming, and professional. A special thank you to Stephen and Gina, along with the entire Valet Team, for providing exceptional service. We also appreciated all the staff in the restaurant, hallways, and front desk who consistently greeted us with kindness and made us feel valued. Highly recommend this resort and we will definitely be back. Mahalo for a wonderful stay!

We spent a week here in a bungalow. It was quite nice and comfortable and I can throw a baseball into the surf from my patio (I actually tried it). There are two pools, friendly staff a bar and nice towel service. A convenient free shuttle runs up to the local shopping center "whalers village". We bought the breakfast package. Good breakfast. Nice staff. Super annoying birds. Hotel has done virtually nothing to mitigate the birds. Expect them to be on every table, chair and other fixtures. I been to other island restos where they have strung fishing line to curb the birds. Perhaps that's not allowed here. I saw a gang of pigeons attack a servers tray whist he passed one plate to the diners' table. It was pretty disgusting.

Loved our stay! Room was a bit dated and the shower needed some work, but overall loved the hotel and property. Breathtaking sunset views, (and whales!) quiet and not over crowded beach, 2 outdoor pools and beautiful hotel grounds. Hotel is connected to the beach walk so we enjoyed walking in the morning. About a mile south was Whalers village with lots of shopping and dining. Would stay again if ever back in Maui. Hotel had a restaurant and ice cream shop on property.
